I arrive bright and early to work the next morning. Chet and I never agreed upon a time he’d arrive so I wanted to be there early so I wouldn’t risk missing him. The morning goes by slowly as every fifteen minutes, I check out the window to see if Chet’s walking toward the door.

But so far, nothing.

The afternoon rolls in, and still...nothing, and my heart sinks with the sun.

My gaze stuck on the door as I stir my batter, I’m devastated by the time the last customer of the day walks out.

I waited all day, for what? Chet stood me up and I spent all day making excuses for why he was late. Should I have expected anything less from a man that sells himself over the internet?

But I thought we had a deeper connection than that. I thought he seemed genuine.

Typical me, wrong again.

I’m a strong independent woman. Why did I waste a day, daydreaming about Chet and hardly getting anything done? I don’t have time for games. I deserve more than a man who doesn’t even have the decency to call or text in the twenty-first century.

Screw him! Screw Chet! What kind of name is that anyway?

“I don’t have time for a night of romping. I have cakes to make!”
